So further
to the story about counting, I found out the following: Eight, 8, acht, is
the perfect number for counting.
200m, easy,
that is 8 laps in a 25m pool.
400m, easy,
that is 8 laps in a 50m pool.
800m,
again, easy, that is 8 double laps in a 50m pool.
8 sets,
yes, totally doable.
But when
you get to the other distances and counting, forget it!
300m, no
way, that is not an easy multiple of 8.
20 x 100m,
seriously, you are doomed with this one, you will lose count, guaranteed.
I
think we
can all guess when I came up with this…. Yes during another long
training session a few nights ago. 3100m to be precise. And none of it
was in easy numbers. So what
distance we actually completed, who knows. Another one
of those swims where the warm up, yes WARM UP, is 1000m…. The main
set: 20 x 100m with 10s breaks. Anyhow, 1,5
hours later, at 8.30pm, after another late dinner at 9.30pm…. I had my
story for
this blog figured out.
Preparations
are progressing. Swimsuits are permanently displayed on our skins. It looks
like I am wearing a white swimsuit 24/7.
We are
starting to get really bored with swimming, but hanging in there. We are trying
to keep things interesting by doing our long swim at a different 50m pool every
weekend. And, we added a bit of variation by doing private Pilates lessons, to
work some other muscles. We are finding out that those other muscles have
been seriously neglected for some time, AUCH!
Only a few
more weeks to go, excited!!!
